A WIN FOR ALL PARTIES
Musings by Jason Black | CEO, Boundless Network
In my years in the industry, I have come to truly appreciate and
respect the roles fulfilled and challenges faced by supplier reps. Personally,
I would fail miserably at this job, because a) my sense of direction stinks,
and b) I don’t have the patience of Job and would be a disaster in working with
those “challenging” distributors and/or salespeople.
FOUR BUCKS A GALLON AND 90 CENT KOOZIES
Musings by Jason Black | CEO, Boundless Network
Today as I write, gas has hit $4 a gallon at the pump in many parts
of the country. We are in the midst of an election year, and the majority of companies
are scrutinizing their business to evaluate how a recession will negatively or
positively impact their business.

BUILDING YOUR BUSINESS IN A RECESSION
Musings by Jason Black | CEO, Boundless Network
A few months ago I wrote about the negative impact a recession will have on the vast majority of promotional products distributors. Since that time, I have attended numerous industry trade shows and have left each one confident that the success of Boundless Network's sales professionals over the next year (or however long the negative economy sticks around) will increasingly be at the expense of other's who are not providing true value to their customers.
I just posted a video on YouTube where I talk about the impact of a recessive economy on our industry and offer some thoughts on what sales professionals can do to improve their chance of success during this time. Take a look and let me know what you think.
INDUSTRY SEES DROP IN M&A'S
Musings by Jason Black | CEO, Boundless Network
Last week the ASI Promogram reported that the industry has seen a 32 percent drop in mergers and acquisitions, which I find somewhat interesting but not surprising. The reason? My best guess is two-fold. First, I think there are only a limited number of distributorships that have the wherewithal to structure win-win relationships. Secondly, I think the majority of these “larger” distributorships are boring business models that offer more of the “same ole same ole” with no real strategic value. The new breed of distributorships (younger progressive types) is looking for something more significant and unfortunately, there are only a couple of suitable options.
THE TIME TO PARTNER IS NOW
Musings by Jason Black | CEO, Boundless Network
My definition of a partnership is when two parties come together to
create a win-win solution. Partnerships
enable the respective partners to do what they do best and collectively
win.
A BOUNDLESS EXPERIENCE: PART TWO
Musings by Jason Black | CEO, Boundless Network
Day two of Founders’ Circle
2008 was phenomenal! At a 100K-foot view, day two was designed to be motivating,
celebrate the success of 2007, share the roadmap of how the technology platform
provides our sales organization a competitive advantage, and outline key milestones
into 2009 and through 2010.
A BOUNDLESS EXPERIENCE: PART ONE

Last week Boundless held its third annual Founders’ Circle conference.
This is somewhat like the “all-family meeting,” where everyone convenes in one
place and chats about the family’s plans for the future. For our organization, this means sales professionals
and corporate staff from around the country journey to Austin
Our team did a phenomenal job
pulling all the activities together… as I mentioned before, preparing for
Founders’ Circle is like planning three weddings simultaneously! Fortunately no
one in the Boundless family got married (please note: Austin is 300+ miles from
El Dorado)!
THE BIGGEST BOUNDLESS EVENT OF THE YEAR
Musings by Jason Black | CEO, Boundless Network
First off, I apologize for my blog sabbatical… my life has been a
bit hectic—but good!—in all areas. My youngest midget recently reached her
first birthday milestone, and my four-year-old has been back with me on the
golf course. Here at Boundless, we have been focused on completing a successful
Q1, planning our 2009 technology road map and preparing for our annual Boundless
pilgrimage to Austin.
